Well, Paul shipped me more modules and I didn't have a place to put them so
I had to
finish off my Moog-style "upper" cabinet, even without the flat rails.  I
installed
the modules with temporary wood screws for now.  It came out pretty nice, if
I do
say so myself.  It is 27U wide so it holds 13x2U modules plus one 1U module.

I uploaded some pictures of the cabinet at various stages of construction
into the

I sent the plans out as an attachement long ago.  I'll try to dig up the
file and
add it to the files area (its on another computer).

A few problems/lessons learned along the way:

- Watch out for wood warping.  A friend built the cabinet out of black birch
that he
had been drying for >2 years but it still warped a bit.  It isn't bad but
slightly
noticeable.

- The 3/8" bevel that I had for mounting the flat rails/modules wasn't
really wide
enough.  I had my woodworker friend add an additional strip of wood on the
inside to
build up the lip for mounting the rail and modules.

- I used Minwax dark walnut stain and it was *really* dark.  Again, it looks
OK but
a lighter stain (such as regular walnut) would have been closer to the Moog
walnut.
I lightend it a bit by rubbing the darkest spots with a rag soaked in paint
thinner.

- I used some T-nuts for mounting the power distribution panels on spacers.
This
could have been done just as easy with bolts from below with washers and
nuts on
top.  T-nuts didn't work with the power supply since there wasn't enough
room to
insert the screws into the bottom plate of the power supply.
