A real tracking generator has various points on the scale where the slope of the function changes. Only very simple tracking (single function) can be performed with a reversing attenuator. The tracking generator in the Oberheim Xpander, allows you to set the output level for 5 points evenly spaced along the scale for the input. So, you can have a negative slope for some of the range and a positive slope for other parts of the range with different slopes along the way! The question is, can a tracking generator be built out of Tony's multi-stage envelope generator (sorry, the real name is escaping me at the moment).
