This is my understanding also. I believe sending the vco 'through 
zero' is another way of saying that the modulator can cause the 
waveform to reverse on itself, sort of like instantly flipping the 
phase.

Someone please correct me also if I'm wrong. Doug, you're on this 
list - do we have it right?
