SynthTech MOAS Bradley SuperMoe

All,
How'sabout instead of trying to make this all in one super duper
MOAS/DoMOAS thing, go the SuperMoe route instead and make it a bunch of
modules? (clock sources, sync interfaces, cv banks, gate banks, switchers,
quantizers, etc...) I have a bunch of the small Concussor sequencer modules
and being able to rig them up any way you want definitely makes it fun and
ultra versatile. There are plenty of analog sequencers out there... lots
with MIDI...pretty much anything you want is available if you look. Thats
why the modular format is great! (as Dave B. and I have found out) You can
make one module at a time, add different features onto your sequencer
according to what your needs are at the time, and it's ultimately WAY more
flexible... (plus Mr Bradley has a bunch of schemos laid out already)
These modules could be badged not as SynthTech MOTM modules, but as SynthTech
MOAS modules. (or just SuperMoe.. has a nice ring to it, and would bewilder
everyone not on the list : )) Have points on the PCB's to normal a few
connections between certain modules as you get them if you want, but use the
switchcraft jacks switching tab to unlock the modularity when you insert a
plug. I also think that having pattern memory on a sequencer designed for
modular use doesn't make too much sense because as we all know, at least half
of a sequences sound is the synth's patch and knob settings, which we can't
put in memory and recall exactly, and B- most of us aren't putting on
performances where we have to exactly repeat a sequence we did in an album or
something like that... (Performing live should be live, no?)
Not that I woudln't love pattern memory and the vacuum fluroescent display
that comes along with it though!!!!! I'm just trying to give you guys some
thoughts to much on for a nice lazy sunday : )
And I do understand that Paul is trying to reach out to a wider audience, one
who wants a more traditional stand alone MOOG-960 type thing... I'm no
exception to wanting this either, but for strictly modular sequencing
madness, keep it modular imho.
What does everyone think, especially you guys who do use sequencers for
actual musical production?
Anyone have any ideas here? Let it all hang out!!!
Dave B., your input?
