I was roaming around Lowes (Home Depot clone) and noticed some interesting paints that could possibly be used inplace of Tolex on cases. I picked up a can of spraypaint made by Krylon that is called "Make It Stone". It's made to give any object a stone or granite look and it has a thick bumpy tolex type texture. I sprayed a little pine with it, let it dry and it looks very promissing (once black is sprayed over it). It comes with a small can of protector spray for about $10. Not to be confused with Krylon's $8, one can stone spray, which looks more like grain sized sand mixed with paint and doesn't have nearly the thickness of texture or style of their $10 product. Also I saw some kind of textured paint or covering in large plastic housepaint sized cans that are meant to be applied with a roller. I'm tempted to check that stuff out too. -Elhardt
