Grant Richter recently posted this to the S-Diy list... "I finally figured out how to get 0-10 volt control voltages into and out of a Korg Kaoss pad. A 10 volt gate signal is also generated when the pad is touched. It is somewhat tricky, attaching about 10 wires to IC pins on the surface mount mother board. It also requires multiplexers and sample and holds. About 5 additional chips. There is also a working prototype of a five channel 20 LED "color organ" that fits behind the translucent touch panel and gives you a light show that responds to the sound coming through the pad. Psychedelic! This is simpler, requiring only 5 motherboard connections, but the board is surface mount for thickness reasons. It is not practical to do this commercially since modifications void the warranty. I just did it for fun and thought other people might think it was fun too. I'm guessing 10-20 people might have interest in these mods? That's enough to maybe, make a kit with PCB? The CV interface and color organ are two separate boards. I'm guessing each kit would be US$50 using hand made boards with all parts and a Wiard sticker. You'll need enough skill to solder a #30 wire to a surface mount pin without creating a solder bridge and to assemble the surface mount PCB. Obviously this is another "senseless act of beauty" since $50 just covers costs. If you would be interested these kits, or think you will build it yourself if you had schematics, please drop me a line at grichter@... although it will be several months before I can follow up on this." Sounds cool to me!!!!!!!! color organ!?!? CV's!?!? Rock!! ~Steve (Now all I need is a Kaoss pad!)
