That is a good looking finish. I wonder how it will hold up to some light abuse. Maybe you can take a hammer to your test piece. :) Larry ----- Original Message ----- From: <elhardt@...> To: <motm@egroups.com> Sent: Tuesday, January 16, 2001 1:03 AM Subject: [motm] Textured paint sample Just for those who are curious, below is a link to a jpeg of what my little textured paint (Tolex replacement) test looks like. Semi-gloss black is too shiney. It should probably be Semi-flat. It is near impossible to take an un-blurry handheld picture in a semi-dark environment with my camera, so I did my best to sharpen it up enough to see the texture. The partially build case is just a test. After opening my Roland SH-7 to clean the contacts, I noticed that the black endcaps for the control panel were some kind of semi-partical board painted black. I was shocked because they look just like painted metal from the outside. So when I found a similar wood with a really smooth surface I had to give it a try and see just how smooth I could paint it (in a really bright glossy blue). Turns out spraypaint doesn't do a very good job. It probably needs some industrial size airbrush. http://members.aol.com/elhardt/images/cabtest.jpg -Elhardt
