OT - Ridiculous prices on old books

OT - Ridiculous prices on old books

2001-03-06 by ivancu@aol.com

For a while I've had Amazon looking for a copy of Brice Ward's "Electronic
music circuit guidebook" and now, over a year after my initial request, they
found a copy.

And they're only asking $173.99

What a deal!

I passed on it.

Ivan

Unless you want that book for collectibility reasons,
you'd be much better off buying the entire Electronotes
collection from Bernie Hutchins. It has thousands of
pages of electronic music circuits for around $250.

I must agree with John....Brice Ward's book, while a good one to have in the collection, is no where near as useful as the Electronotes collection. The Preferred Circuit Collection alone is worth more than Ward's book IMHO.

But you need to be aware that, just because you send Bernie the $250.00, this doesn't mean you will receive everything that he promises! I ordered this collection in June, 1998 and what I have received so far has been great; but I am still waiting for several parts (mainly some Application Notes/Extended Service Notes from the late '70s) and Bernie shows no sign of sending them any time soon.

If there is anyone on the list who has the entire set and would be gratious enough to copy the parts I am missing, I would gladly pay any copying/shipping/inconvenience costs (please email me privately). Like I said, I've already paid for them...I'd like to eventually own them!

Just thought you should know. Thanks!

I was looking for C. G. Jung's lectures on Nietzsche's Zarathustra, and
there
are offers on Amazon's auctions, but the price is in the hundreds of Dollars
...
I've just ordered the abridged version, 20 Dollars new. The difference
between stock and vintage, as always I guess ...

Ah, sorry, off topic.

copy for the meager sum of $400. i almost had a coronary. when
asked if it was a typo, the woman i dealt with responded that she
wished it was a typo as much as i did...
hmm, maybe i'm in the wrong business...

chris,
you may have to wait then. i have most everything electronotes published but
i think that since bernie still produces them ( granted on a glacial time
scale ) that either intellectual property or copyright issues may need to be
considered. assuming we could get by that problem, i`d gladly send you
whatever copies you were interested in.
best,
dave v.
