Mini Wave Kit builders alert
2001-08-03 by John Blacet
There is a missing trace on the Mini Wave board. Pin 5 of U6 should be connected to +5V. The nearest connection point is pin 1 of U6. We recommend that you add this jumper even though your MW may appear to be working correctly. There is a tendency for unconnected CMOS inputs to rise to the positive rail, which allows the circuit to seem to work properly. In fact, we built quite a few MWs before we noticed any problems. This is not a reliable situation however. The effected circuit is the 4070 based AD conversion clock for the two Wave and Bank pots and CV ins. You will not be able to change these settings and the LEDs will power up in a random mode if the circuit fails. We had a previous alert concerning the 4070 and this is the same problem. As of today, August 3, 2001, all kits and assembled units shipped will have the board modified. I apologize for the inconvenience!
