They (he?) have a thing called the "Formant Pro 2000", so maybe it's
a variation/evolution of the Formant.

JH should be able to answer this one.

German modular synth builder. Apparently they're doing kits, too.

If this is the "Formant Pro", forget them.

hello all,
i emailed the chap well over a month ago for more info but i've not recieved
a reply yet - maybe he's testing the market with his site before investing a
big wad of cash...

meanwhile,
trawling through the mountain of MOTM paperwork i've accumulated recently, i
came across the serge peak & trough schematic - can anyone remember what
it's actually supposed to do..? and any ideas on whether it'd run on +15V &
+7.5V instead of +12V & +6V ..?
other than that, looks to be a cute little module

cheers
paul b

I bought the book. Quite ridiculous to name this "Pro"
decades after the original Formant.

They tell the aspiring diy builder to select transistors
for a Moogish ladder filter, and then they ruin the
whole symmetry with a differential amp that has twice
the input impedance on the positive vs. negative
input. Big laugh, money wasted. Sold the book
on ebay. (I *told* the buyer what I think of these
circuits, but he wanted it anyway. (;-))

That's it, all right. Of course, the whole web site is in German, which
means I have no clue what's going on. Looks like they make it in kit form,
and have a book?!

The sound samples were interesting, I suppose.

Is it a homebrew operation, or just generally bad stuff, or...?

Clearly he wants to differentiate his idea of customer support from Paul's
idea -- his product line may have other differences which show up in similar
ways.
