This is the real thing if you want to protect your gear from lightning 
strikes and such.  Admittedly, I'm a little overly paranoid about this to the 
point where I've got my music computer on a wireless network link so that 
there is nothing but power lines connected to my rig, all through the Surgex 
box.

And yes, if I am around during a lightning storm I disconnect everything from 
the wall... assuming I'm there to do it.
