Good thoughts Chris.  There currently is no screen cut for this.  I have a
Kenton and have the 2 gates, 2 CVs, 6 aux-V and MIDI IN all on the rack
ears.  That is all I needed.  But, I recognize others may want different
things.

Certainly, if there is sufficient interest, we could do this.  Frankly, the
Expressionist break out holds the record for worst selling Stooge panel.  We
have yet to break even on that one.  But, it made Moe happy, and that is all
that counts.

If we did make one, I would ask questions like:
Do you really need the MIDI out (isn't that just for the occasional sysex
memory back up?)
Do you really need the MIDI thru? (these are questions, not assertions)
Do you want the sync on DIN only, or should the pulse be broken out to a 1/4
jack too?
How do you use the multiples and is there a better way to do that?
For example, if you use the mults to carry the CV or gates routinely, then
you could have much more functionality with fewer jacks.  If you are taking
CV1 to 3 VCOs lets say.  You are jumpering from CV1 to the mult and have 3
jacks for connections.  But you use 5 jacks of panels space to do that.  Why
not ditch the 8 jacks of mults and add extra jacks to the other outputs
directly.  The 3 CVs from CV 1 take 3 jacks not 5.  Or, is the ability to
pick and choose what you use the mult for worth the extra panels space?  I'm
just asking.  Maybe you want to use it on an aux for multiplying triggers to
EGs.
Since there are no knobs to twist, would people be willing to compromise on
component spacing (like the MIDI jacks) to get more stuff on a panel?

If you are interested in a Kenton break out, let's hear your ideas.  Even if
we only have 4 or 5, that is enough to bring the cost way down.  I have to
do the math, but at that quantity, they might be only $5 more than normal.

OK, since we're talking about the next panel run, I've been wondering if
there was any kind of demand for a passive breakout panel for the Kenton
Pro-2000 MIDI-to-CV?  I know the stooges have already designed a great panel
for the Encore Expressionist and, since Paul S. highly recommends the Kenton
products, I was wondering how many other MOTMers are like me and use the
Kenton.

I'm currently using a homebuilt 1U high x 19" wide panel to bring my
Pro-2000's outputs "around to the front".  This is a strictly passive panel
with no circuitry involved and it sits in a separate rack because it just
doesn't fit in with the rest of my modules.  I've toyed with the idea of
creating something similar to Dave and Larry's Expressionist panel...in
other words, a 2U wide MOTM-format panel that would integrate well with the
rest of my modular.  I have attached a crude bitmap image of what I have
been envisioning (please excuse the low resolution; I wasn't sure if a
larger image would make it through the "yahoo groups censors".)

Is anyone else interested in this?  If so, we might be able to take
advantage of the economies of scale Larry talked about.  Perhaps the Stooges
have already designed one of these as a one-off and would be willing to add
them to the next run???
