DarkStar Chaos Pitch Range

DarkStar Chaos Pitch Range

2002-05-29 by inform3r

My Darkstar Chaos seems to only be capable of playing very high pitches
when triggered from Mobius sequencer. I know the Darkstar isnt supposed to
track in a "conventional way," but I am curious if this is normal behavior
from this module. If so, are there resistor/capacitor values I can change to
maybe lower the octave range a bit?

                    Thanks,
                    John

This may sound rudimentary, but I seem to remember that the pitch
knob on the DS is still active with an external cv plugged in. Are
you cranking the knob CCW?

Another thought - the DS may be set up to respond to negative cvs -
with 0V cv it may oscillate near the center of its range. The
sequencer may output only positive voltages. You may get better
control by running the sequencer into a MOTM-830 mixer, and adding a
negative dc bias to it before running it to the DS.

The Freq pot on the DSC can turn the VCO off at FCCW, so the problem
with external sequencers (playing high notes) is mostly a matter of
scaling down the sequencer output voltage with an attenuator or mixer.
