Mort Garson

2002-07-01 by Les Mizzell

While we're talking about orchestral synthesis....

Anybody know much about Mort Garson's "Black Mass/Lucifer"?

This ain't orchestral- but it was different enough from everything else that
was out there, from what I remember, to make an impression.

Size of Moog used? Anything?

Is there anyway to get a copy of this? I *owned* this LP (yep, I said LP)
back in the 70s, and remember just enough of it to want to revisit the
thing...

I waxed nostalgic on this one, (Black Mass/Lucifer)
until I got a chance to hear it again recently.

Whew, this time around It seemed like such a bummer...

However I fondly remember a fabulously Zany album called WHITE NOISE
with "Hear Come the Fleas!"

That bad, huh?

Weird how we seem to remember how great something was, and then when we get
around to listening to it again 30 years later we notice how much it maybe
really sucked.

Seemed pretty innovative at the time. Doesn't hold up to the test of time in
your book?

Still, information on the configuration of the instrument used would be of
interest.

White Noise: An Electric Storm by David Vorhaus. One of my favorites,
but not for the faint of heart. It was reissued on CD some time ago.
