MOTM-450 it is

It think a "stand-alone" MOTM-450 is best. This keeps off the digital switcher "noise", is the
same format (read: I can use the same sheet metal design) as the MOTM-900, and allows for 500
Series only users not forced to buy 2 supplies.

The 2A on the +5V is sort of "whimpy". But I will make a MOTM-980 Distribution board, so you can
buy a larger supply. Power One has these "Triple output" supplies in all sorts of sizes, same as
the dual one I'm using now.

The model number I'll be using is HTAA-16W-A.

would the 950 be useable with existing modules..?
i know it's not recommended, but say i was a new user and just wanted a 500
series module and say a 440 filter for outboard processing or whatever
reason, i really wouldn't want 6U of power supplies for 4U of processing

also, for that matter, if i was looking for another 900 PSU maybe, maybe i
could just use a 950 and make sure it was just used for ADSRs & the
100/101..?

cheers

OK :) How about designing the 500 modules with both MTA-6 connectors, and
wall wart and MTA-4 connectors, such that:

500-only series owners can use the 950.

Small system owners who already have a +-15 supply can add an inexpensive
wallwart in order to add a 500 module to their system.

"Cabinet" owners could use the 980 PCB, and leave off the MTA-4 connectors
on their 500 modules to avoid trouble.

I thought you said the 950 "is used to power 500 Series ONLY." However, if
it has the room for a few MTA-4 connectors for regular modules that would
be even better.
