Lots' of fun w/MOTM-420, FR777

I thought one or two of you might appreciate this. The FR777 is a versatile, table-top monosynth/sequencer, ostensible a "303 on steroids" but really nothing like that at all--sure, it can sound just like a 303, but whatever--that's about 1% of its ability. ANYWAY--I was making some hi-hat patterns with it using noise and a bit of self-oscillation from the filter (oscs turned off), and I realized that pitch CVs are always assigned to steps... CV out to the 1/V/OCT in of the MOTM-420 set to self-oscillate... oh yeah baby. I went back and programmed "desired" pitch information into the FR777 and had a great groove going in no time at all. Also, I altered the FR777 patch, bringing in the oscillators and turning down the noise, and of course the 420 filter was tracking perfectly. It was a great, rich unison sound from all participants. Voltage control is cool. ;) David Bivins Creative Strategist & Waveform Punisher Fry Multimedia New York City 212.285.2600 x103 http://www.frymulti.com
