Are you thinking about tuned feedback/delay lines under voltage
control ala Ron Berry's stuff? Now THAT'S what would be the killer
jewel in the MOTM crown! I want several!!!

Oh yes. :) Please do.

I don't know about this. Do you have a link?
(I'm aware of Ian Fritz's stuff, though.)

I am only beginning to understand the theory of this. I used to think
the delay lines were the important part (because you can get
very nice sounds by just making feedback around a BBD delay
line), but there is much more. The fun begins if you have means
to change air pressure and embouchure on a simulated reed,
which involves a lot of nonlinear stuff (easy in analogue) and
a lot of knowledge how to set the parameters (I'm just a
bloody beginner here).

Don't expect anything soon. At the moment I'm just playing
with my VL7 and reading ugly Yamaha patent texts.

I think the idea of a series of modules based on analog modeling
(sometimes referred to as physical modeling) is a great one.

In fact the whole idea is to create an analog in the electronic
realm of a musical instrument. For instance for a woodwind, you
would have a generator of some sort which would simulate the reed
and a resonator which would simulate the body of the instrument.
Voltage control inputs would cause the generator to respond to such
things as lip pressure, breath, tongue placement etc.

The first step is usually to create a mathematical model of a class
of instruments. Most physical modeling synths are digital, but
there is no reason the mathematical formulas cannot be modelled in
the analog realm.

I have used some of the Yamaha synths which incorporated physical
modeling and some of the Korg synths as well, such as the Z1 and the
Prophecy. When you think about it the whole reason they are called
synthesizers is because they synthetically create an electronic
model of a physical instrument.

Although I love the idea of a series of modules with this basis I
hope JH takes his time. Paul has so much great stuff coming out I'm
starting to worry about how I'm going to afford it all. Oh well, I
can always sell more old stuff.

For more ideas on tuned feedback/delay, check out the
Evolver:

One of me mates got one yesterday (from the first
shipment) and loves it.

I agree with fellow wiseguy Moe! Sounds yummy to me.
