Dunno whether or not I rank as "esteemed" but a portion of my first CD was
played on NPR's "Hearts of Space" show last week. It's a pre-MOTM work,
though, so maybe it doesn't count.

[OT][OT] TV Repairman

2003-02-18 by Tentochi

Since this list, MOTM and Paul got me seriously into
electronics, I feel a special kinship here.

So in my journey, I now get asked to fix all manner of
electronic devices. Fortunately most of them are
blatantly obvious problems--turn it on, it isn't
plugged in all of the way, replace the batteries, or a
small cold solder joint.

I now have one that is out of my (minor, minor)
league. A friend has a TV set that is difficult to
turn on. You hear it clickwhen you press the power
button , but nothing happens. Press the button again
and hear a slightly different click and still nothing
happens. Repeat many times, then wait about 5 minutes
and try it again and it works. Occassionally it will
turn off by itself especially if it hasn't been on for
too long.

I know this is way OT, so I apologize.

If anyone knows what the problem is or has some good
suggestions, I would love to hear from you.

Please reply to me privately.

Thanks!
Shemp

Bad thermistor in the AC power supply line (or bad circuit breaker in AC line). Else chunk it.
