cable management

What's all this talk about cables laying on the floor?! Mouser sells a cable
management claw (I think they call it a "test lead holder") for something
like $15. These are useful beyond measure! You can either mount them on the
side of a cabinet, into a wall, on the side of an a-frame keyboard stand, or
on a mic stand for portability.

Those are for wimpy BNC and Pomona clip leads. You will be amazed at the total weight of say 30
Stooge patch cords. The patch cords used in the NAMM booth weighed 42 pounds!

BTW: I vote for braided cable with the cool translucent jacket

I haven't hefted the Stooge cables yet, but for example right now I've got
25 cables from 2 to 5 feet in length, hanging off a single Pomona holder
(4408) without the slightest hint of distress. Most of these are the .COM
cables -- will the Stooge cords really be that much heavier?

I'm using the Pomona black lead holders (Mouser part #565-4408)and
each holds 50 cables (ten each of 1', 2',3', 4', and 6') made from
Belden 9778 and Switchcraft #280 1/4" plugs. I haven't weighed my
cables but the Pomona lead holders certainly aren't straining under
this weight.

This lead holder is not the same as used for test leads, which Paul
is describing. This is a good steel unit-worth the 8 bucks!

Chub-ask me how mine are hanging!

--LH--
I don't have any dot com cables. So, I cannot say. But, I have a Kovacy
cable and Stooge cable of the same length here in my hand and cannot tell
any difference. Of course they are significantly heavier than a Hosa like
molded cable.

This unit specifies a max cable diameter of 0.32 inches. The sample Stooge
cable has an nominal outside diameter of 0.26 inches. These should fit
Stooge cable nicely. Thanks for the "tip" there Chub. So, how are they
hanging?

Someone else brought this up on the list before and I think had two of these
back to back made to fit on top of a mic stand. I think I am going to fix
me up something like that.
