question about the 960 distribution board

question about the 960 distribution board

2003-03-07 by Chris Walcott

forgive me if I sent this twice ...

I was wondering how this board works.

- Is it an extension of the 900 or is it a replacement board that provides more connections? I'm guessing the former.

- how does it connect to the 960? does it come with a bridge cable?

- can you mount it to the side of a case?

The reason why I'm asking is that I'm still considering how I'm going to set up my cabinet. Right now I'm leaning towards 2 10 space racks sitting side by side. I'll have the 900 mounted in the rear of one cabinet and I'd like to have the extension board mounted in the second cabinet. I can drill a hole between the two cabinets to slip the power bridge cable through.

That is, unless I'm missing something ...

This is exactly how I have it set up, except that it's a single
cabinet. Works great with the distribution board in the center and
the power supply mounted in back and to the right (when facing the
front of the cabinet). I have three of these :) and I need to build a
fourth because I have a single 1U space left. Which *may*
*eventually* get filled with a new VCA module *someday* when it
*might* come.

I use Paul's rack brackets, 4 to a cabinet.

To clarify: my cabinets are like two *5* space rackes side-by-side;
each side holds 5 2U modules, so the entire cabinet holds 10 2U
modules. I have three, so that means I have somewhere around 30
modules (actually more, since I have several 1U modules (actually
actually, I *should* have *at least* one more 1U module, the new
*VCA* except that it hasn't *arrived* yet)).

er, um, yeah. So I hope that clears it up.

I'm guessing the former.

It is not a replacement board. It's like an AC externsion power strip :)

With an *additional* PWR-20 or PWR-30 cable (not included).

Yes. See the NAMM cabinet photos at www.wiseguysynth.com

Paul, since I ordered the 950 + 960, I guess I also need the
PWR-20 or PWR-30 cable (what's the difference?). I thought
it was included with the 960. Could you add one to my order
please?

(Tried private email but my message got blocked due to spam
issues. Nice...)

Cheers!

(snip)

 Hi,
I believe the only difference is in the length of the cable (20" vs. 30").
