Ring Mods

2003-03-21 by xiphiguy

Can anyone wax eloquent on the origin of the name of the category of
modules know as Ring Modulators? I've heard a couple of odd theories
that sound unlikely. It seems simplistic to assume that
it refers to a particular "ringing" sound that they might be used to
produce. (I guess I'll really feel dumb if that's what it means!)
Do they always follow an algorithm of X*Y?

It refers to the schematic! Early ring mods used a "ring" of diodes and 2 transformers.

It the same way, a "ladder filter" ALSO refers to the way the schematic is drawn.

Move to quarantaine

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
