Probable dropping of toll-free number
2003-05-03 by Paul Schreiber
I know that many of you like the fact I have a toll-free number to call. However, there are 3 factors that will *probably* cause me to drop it as of June 1. a) the bill averages $450/month, and one month hit $712. b) many people have cell phones with "almost free" long distance (it's paid for by minutes) c) SBC, the local provider, is running a promo this month for *unlimited* outgoing long distance for $20/month! Yep, just $20 for calling in the lower 48 and chatting endlessly. I'll investigate this and get back to you. This is a slight pain, because a) the toll-free number is printed on ALL the literature. b) some of you may be discouraged to call. However, all you have to do is call me, say Call ME back! and leave a number. Then I'll call :) The "salad days" of 1999/2000/2001 are sadly over. I have to do a little 'belt tightening and this will save me like $6000! Which I need some of that to repair my poor car that got pounded by hail yesterday :( :( Paul S.
