Cables and whatnot

Cables and whatnot

2003-07-31 by Neil Bradley

I just put my MOTM system completely together today, and now I realize
that my patch cables (that I'm certain I paid too much for) are too short
for the task.

Wasn't someone on this list (perhaps Stooge Larry?) doing cables? Anyone
have any recommendations for places to get them?

Thanks!

-->Neil

I am the supplier of officially logo branded Synthesis Technology cables.
Some information including available colors and prices can be seen here:
http://www.wiseguysynth.com/larry/cable/cable.htm

I plan to update the photos before I order cables again. I was planning on
pulling together another order in about 4 or 5 weeks. Since I sold over
1800 of them last time around, I am certain you can find a few opinions
about them here.

You can order cables from Synthesizers.com at:

http://synthesizers.com/cables.html

The Stooge cables look mighty nice too.

I have dot com cables. (Bought em before the Stooge cables came out.) FWIW,
I'm happy with them.

Not in consideration of the technical aspects of the cable, Synthesizers.com
and Synthesis Technology cables from Stooge Industries each have some
advantages and disadvantages:

Synthesizer.com:
advantage = faster delivery. They are stock items as far as I know.
disadvantage = one color scheme fits all users. WYSIWYG

Synthesis Technology cables by Stooge Industries
advantage # 1 = custom order length and your cable and heat shrink color
advantage # 2 = that cool Synth Tech logo :)
advantage # 3 = price. I am significantly cheaper on all but the 1 foot
cables
disadvantage = slower deliver since all items are custom order and nothing
is in stock

Dot com cables have their barrels glued on. Stooge cables do not. I'll let
you decide if that goes in the advantage or disadvantage column. Dot com
cables owners can enter their comments.

Why do I get three advantages and Dot com gets only one ? Because it's my
e-mail and I am letting everyone know that I plan to take cable orders again
next month (September). Everything will be the same as last time except 5
foot will now be a additional standard length.

Larry, you didn't mention that Dot com does not offer a 5 foot cable. Only
1, 2, 3, 4, and 6-foot. So there's another advantage for you! (I think I
need some 5-footers.)
