OT: Walsh and Eagles fans

OT: Walsh and Eagles fans

2003-10-26 by J. Larry Hendry

I just came from being completely blown away hearing the Eagles in concert.
They played for nearly 3 hours (excluding a short intermission and mandatory
encore walk-offs. Not only did they do most all the great Eagles stuff, but
they also did great interpretations of old James gang and the other great
Walsh solo hits. And, they did many of Henley's solo works. In fact, they
even did one of Fry's solo tunes.

If you care at all about any of this music and live anywhere near one of the
upcoming concert dates, I highly recommend it. They left it all on the
stage. Nothing was held back. It was one of the most worthwhile
performances I have seen. Walsh is a wild man. At one time he had a hard
hat helmet-cam on giving the "Joe-view" up on the big screens.

I second that.

I'm *not* and Eagles fan, but I love Joe Walsh/James Gang and the Don Henley solo stuff. The
stage is very plain (just simple risers), Joe plays about 12 *different* guitars, and it's not
130dB loud.

And I got Joe to play a *request* for me: I was backstage and saw the set list. Just joking, I
said, "They only reason I came to see you is to hear you play 'Turn to Stone', and now I'm
pissed!"

First song after the break: 'Turn to Stone'! Now, it was probably in the overall list of possible
songs, but it definitely was NOT on the main set list!

Backstage food was a little on the cheap side, though.

I have a 22-space .com cabinet sitting here with some modules for him. I just I'd better get
those done! (He get's the first CS-80 filter and WaveWarper, as he actually place the inital
orders).

This is all so true!

I would've loved to have seen these guys too- did have some tickets
offered to me but due to 'economic strife' couldn't afford it - damn!

And I, like many here perhaps - am not a hugh fan of all this music -
but always have appreciated it!

Its funny how different kinds of music sorta 'creeps' up on you, as
you go along in this life, especially as a musician...

What a great, great game!

Larry - did ya 'video bootleg' the show? I've got stuff to trade -
to DIE for!

Maybe you had an influence on the rest of the tour. They did play "Turn to
Stone", "Funk 49" and "Walk Away" all 3 last night.

No <snicker>. But, despite the "no cameras" poilicy, I see they apparently
have not decided to extend that to camera phones. Since I do not have a
"camera phone" I can only speculate that the resolution is pretty bad so as
to not cause concern.
