[OT][Q] Bourns Trim Pots

What are the differences between the 3296 and 3299 Bourns trim pots? Why do
they have 2 so similarly specced parts?

Which of these is the MOTM standard?

I know there was a problem about a year ago with Costa Rican Brouns trim pot
knock-offs. Is there any easy way to spot these?

Thanks!
Shemp

I use 3296 parts. Can't speak about 3299s. May be:

a) # of turns
b) type of internal construction (ie one is a 'cost reduced' version of the
other)
