amplifying a trigger?

amplifying a trigger?

2004-08-18 by Paul Wagorn

Any way anyone can think of to amplify a 5v trigger into a 10v trigger to
drive a 2600 from a 606) using a motm? (Or other means?)

Unfortunately I don't have a vc lag.

I was thinking maybe putting a DC 9v battery into a 700 dual vc router &
switching it with the 5v trigger. - would this work? Can I put DC into an
audio input of this thing without wrecking it?

Maybe using the suboctMux? Put the trigger into the input & use the gain on
one of the octaves to output a higher volt (and I guess longer) 'trigger'..
again, would what is essentially a short DC way below audio freq (the 5v
trigger) hurt it?

Any other ideas? I find that my 2600 gets little use nowadays because of
this incompatibility with everything else that I own that uses 5v triggers

thanks

hello all,
the motm 700 should be okay for +/- 11.8 volts in voltage mode

alternatively maybe using an 800 envelope generator you could do the
following -
set sustain to full and make up a cable that connects the envelope minus
output to screen and the plus output to tip thereby giving approximately a
10 volt potential
or is this a very bad idea
anyone..?

The MOTM-850 pedal interface is the only "official" MOTM module that
can generate a gate signal of sufficient amplitude for your 2600 (I
get >11 volt out of mine). Plug your 5 volt trigger into the PEDAL
input, set the GATE knob somewhere between 0 and 5 (whatever works
best for you), and patch the GATE output to your 2600.

Using a 700 to switch in a DC signal will also work, I've done that a
few times, you won't wreck anything. But you still have to find a 10V
DC source.

I've modified all my mixers so I can get unity gain from any channel.
You have to be careful not to overload it but it allows me to use a
multiple and run the same signal into two channels. At full gain I'll
get 2X the signal output.

In fact, I think you can do this with the mixer in the "voltage processors"
part of the ARP: just mult the output of the 606 and plug two of those into
the inputs of the mixer. You will then have to run it through the other
inverter (since the mixer inverts the original once).

Another way is to just use the pre-amp module of the ARP -- start with the
switch at the lowest gain setting (isn't it X 10?).

I'm sure a circuit to do this could be found without looking too far and
probably only involves a a generic transistor and a few resistors. I've thought
about adding one to my ARP (with a switch for 5v or 10v gate/trigger), but I
never have.
