MOTM Trivia ][

2004-09-09 by Tentochi

I am going to mix up these questions a little more. A few of them most all of you will know.
One or two I may not know the answer to (Ha!).

The release of what piece of equipment took the MOTM Compressor/Limiter off the list of upcoming
modules list (Hint: many fellow Texans helped design it)?

What is the *current* unofficial headphone amp for MOTM (i.e. recommended by Paul)?

What modules have been retired (I wanted to ask this again for people who weren't around the last
time I posted this)?

Name one of Paul's patents (bonus points for each extra one you get). How many patents does Paul
hold either by himself or jointly?

What popular vintage synth did Paul help design (Hint: It has increased in value 12 to 15 times
over the past 10 years.)? What more well-known synth did that evolve into?

What was the original purpose of creating Synthesis Technology (Hint: It was not to make MOTM)?

How many Moog modules (and not the new ones) were sold?

How many MOTM modules have been sold to date?

Who was the first MOTM customer?

What was the first MOTM module?

Whose basic design is used for the MOTM-800 (EG)?

What 2 other modular synths prior to the MOTM-101 that also performed Track and Hold? What are
the module names (Hint: Strange)?

At Synthesis Technology's first NAMM appearance, who did they share a booth with (2 companies)?

You normally see posts from Moe, Larry and Shemp. Who is Curly on the list?

FYI-->Moe, Larry and Shemp's alter female egoes are Moella, Larraine, and Shempetta.

Real names: Moses and Shmuel Horowitz and Louis Feinberg
There is no Joe nor Curly Joe on the list.

'nough for now. If people are interested, I can keep doing these. Please feel free to submit
possible future questions to me privately along with answers if you like.

Cheers!
Shemp

OK, I'll guess at some:

> The release of what piece of equipment took the MOTM Compressor/Limiter
off the list of upcoming
modules list (Hint: many fellow Texans helped design it)?

LH: RNC compressor.

> What modules have been retired (I wanted to ask this again for people who
weren't around the last
time I posted this)?

LH: MOTM-100, MOTM-110

> Name one of Paul's patents (bonus points for each extra one you get). How
many patents does Paul
hold either by himself or jointly?

LH: Something to do with that Multimeter design at Tandy in one of them.
Maybe jointly held with Doug Cutris.

> What popular vintage synth did Paul help design (Hint: It has increased
in value 12 to 15 times
over the past 10 years.)? What more well-known synth did that evolve into?

LH: As I remember (which sometimes is no good), the Radio Shack MG-1 which
was actually modeled after the Moog Rouge (with typical Tandy cost cutting
methods and cheesy polyphonic sound applied).

> What was the original purpose of creating Synthesis Technology (Hint: It
was not to make MOTM)?

LH: Selling CEMs ? Or, as a DIY synth building resource ?

> How many Moog modules (and not the new ones) were sold?

LH: In the neighborhood of 6870 ?

> How many MOTM modules have been sold to date?

LH: What "to-date?" Sold or shipped? HA! Iimpossible question. Shipped,
I'll guess 5400.

> Who was the first MOTM customer?

LH: Steve (ezboy) can't remember the last name right now ?? He is the
missing moderator from this list.

> What was the first MOTM module?

LH: MOTM-110 - only one with a CEM chip, followed by the MOTM-120 and
MOTM-700.

> Whose basic design is used for the MOTM-800 (EG)?

LH: Thomas Henry

> At Synthesis Technology's first NAMM appearance, who did they share a
booth with (2 companies)?

LH: Encore and Metasonix

> You normally see posts from Moe, Larry and Shemp. Who is Curly on the
list?

LH: The quite one - John Barlow

Larry H. (customer # 6)
