website of my synth

website of my synth

2005-01-28 by djbrow54

I decided to finally put together a web site on my modular synth.
I got rid of all the folders with just files and organized them
somewhat. So far it is just my modular synth and my bass pedals
project. Later I might add some of my other musical items.

Quite the diversity of modules!

What is the keyboard controller that is sitting in front of your modular?

The keyboard controller is an Arp-3604. It is a 3 bus CV controller with built-in portamento, tuning(e.g. pitch shift), and scale. I bought it off eBay and it arrived in pieces. The potted module was dead and I replaced it
with a LF398 s&h. I also synchronized the gate with trigger as the pulse generation circuitry delayed it from
gate which gave me a side-effect with the MOTM-800 eg.

The cabinet was complete but in horrible shape so I just built a new cabinet to match the rest of my modular.

Keyboard components

Y'all,

A few months ago I spent a good couple hours trying to find an OEM
supplier for piano key assemblies. After listening to Dave talk about
his Arp-3604 it occurred to me that someone on the list might know of a
supplier.

I'm looking for OEM piano key assemblies, after-touch and velocity
would be nice, but not required. Any ideas?

Hey Dave, your site looks great - and so does your synth! I really like the
modules you built yourself, and some of the mods to the standard modules.
Looks like you've put a lot of hours and thought into it. A Roland sound
canvas in a MOTM format module - that's wack! So are you trained in EE, or
have you just picked it up "along the way"?

EE by degree although my only design work of late is with this
synthesizer. I have been in engineering management now for
24 years. My problem is trying to remember the stuff I
learned so long ago ...

Since there were several questions on my keyboard I have added
a page on just it. It was a real basketcase when I got it.

My understanding is that most of the world's keyboards are made by Fatar:

FATAR srl
Zona Ind.le Squartabue
62019 RECANATI (MC)
ITALY
TEL +39 071 7506078 - FAX +39 071 7506142

I can't find a webpage for the main facility but here is their USA office (not their OEM business):
