End-of-year thanks
2005-12-15 by Paul Schreiber
2005 was a difficult year, with Larry's death and also that of another long-time personal friend in the spring. But as I sit here typing I can't help but feel grateful that I have be allowed to do MOTM 1 more year. With the onslaught of plug-ins [sorry Adam :) ] and MP3 crap-ola audio played through 14 cent earbuds, it's a wonder that there is still interest in big honkin' expensive "good-plated toothpicks" (nod to Konkoro). There will be 1 more burst of kit shipments next week, limited to stock on hand. I'm not buying anymore "stuff" because then I have to pay taxes on it (end-of-year inventory). Post office lines are 45min long now :( I will collect all the emails and try to get it all reconciled over the weekend. Do not hesitate to send me a nasty-gram. As far as assembled modules go: I will continue to work past tomorrow. I am building 35 pc boards up right now: that's a LOT of time. I am also designing 8 new pc boards for the Frac Rack modules and then those faceplates AND THEN building up a few MOTM-650s to *pay* for all this effort. For the numbers: in 2004 I shipped 838 modules and 2005 will be right around 940. This is *entirely* due to the efforts of Paul Haneberg, all I do is get in the way :) Looking to 2006: I expect this total to drop to around 600 because most folks are 'done' with the current line-up and are waiting for new stuff. But I *hope* the $$$ amount will be the same due to Frac sales (although per-module they are less than MOTM). Yes, there will be new stuff in 2006. Most of 2005 was just playing catch-up. But once I am caught up, my competition better run and hide because we may be outshipped and outgunned but MOTM will not be out-designed! Paul S.
