Pix of the MOTM-650 'array'

Pix of the MOTM-650 'array'

The production pc boards for the '650 are in sets of 4 pc boards,
called an 'array'. Some folks refer to this as "step and repeat".

Here are the front and rear views of stuffed boards as I get
them from the subcontractor. The LEDs are not soldered, I do that
because it's very labor intensive and simply don't want to pay for it.

The individual boards have what's called 'scoring tabs' so that they
can be snapped apart.

10 points for the first person to correctly identify (in general) what
RV1 is and why it's on the board.

So you just 'break' them, like a cookie? Sounds scary. ;)
Anyway, impressive looking stuff. I wouldn't want to solder
that. I see the VIAs are not soldered this time?

Ah, the bonus points are back. ;P
RV1 is small and gray, and it's on the board just to impress
us with its smallness. ;)

RV1 is a varistor and those are usually there to protect from excessive
transient voltages. Interesting...

Ah, but the REAL question is what is RV2 for?
