State of the Euro

State of the Euro

2010-05-02 by Paul Schreiber

If the small Euro Frequency Shifter sells the same as the E340 & E350 then I will have money for 4 more 5U modules (the CG, the MT and 2 other ones).
If I can get parts the MOTM-130 dual pan/fade VCA is a good candidate.

Is there a feature and functional description of the MOTM-130 somewhere? Is
it similar to the Q111 only 2 devices behind the panel instead of one?

Scott Deyo has told me he's working on a MOTM version of this:

Paul once said that the MOTM-1190 (frac VCA) is the core for the MOTM-130. It looks MOTM-130 might be two VCAs rather than two Q111s.

Should we interpret this as an announcement that you will be offering a Euro Frequency Shifter module for sale?

Just asking,
Roger

Should we interpret this as an announcement that you will be offering a Euro Frequency Shifter module for sale?

Yes, and if it sells OK then I will make a MOTM version.

The frequency shifter market is getting somewhat busy now.

I haven't seen much info about Paul's version.

Tony

So like the Cloud Generator it will be Euro first if not only? I

'm trying to convince myself that MOTM format isn't dead and you're not helping.

It's still alive, but the leadership has clearly moved to Bridechamber/Babysealclub in North America and Oakley/krisp1 in the U.K.

Not unlike what's happened with Dotcom. Innovation in that platform shifted elsewhere too.

BUT you can still get the bread and butter stuff, including important little things like racks, PSUs, etc. in a reliable and timely fashion from the mothership. Which I'm thankful for.

I won't go so far as to say it's the natural order of things, and I would be MUCH happier to see new modules from Roger and Paul. But it's at least workable for now.

Re: [motm] Re: State of the Euro

Like I said below/several times in the past:
a) new R&D will tend to be Euro format *first*. It's cheaper and right now it's a *guaranteed return on investment*
b) if there is interest in a MOTM format, I will do one
The FShifter function existes from Encore, COTK and Modcan in 5U. Mine is a 'different take' and has a feature none of these have,
that is geared towards "manking funny noises/BugMusic" that sells well in Euro market.
