I listened to your tracks. It think your MOTM '940 sounds terrible! Try
and make better sonic use of ALL your modules next time.

I recommend taking your headphones into a preamp into the '410. Lay the
headphones on the ground and drop the '940 from a 10-story building right
next to the headphones. The '940 is definitely one of the best sounding
modules in the MOTM arsenal. Because of the circuitry in the '940, it has a
much better ring to it on rebound that the other modules too. The frequency
of the bounce is also much longer that the other modules due to its light
weight.

The biggest complaint about the '940 is the lack of LEDs to indicate bounce
frequency in real time.

All sound is good. Praise be to sound!

then some they haven't even been thought up yet. send me prototypes :P

is that how you did it Biv?

No, really it was much more simple. I wired the money to Paul's Swiss bank
account and met the man in the fedora in the lobby of the Chrysler building.
I said "the chair is against the wall," he said "my moustache itches," I
gave him the vial containing eye of newt and two "vintage" Roland batteries,
he handed over the prototype. I had to then escape from the SWAT-like team
of mercenaries that various competitors had hired; it was like The Matrix,
very fun. Sure, I had to get a few stitches later and it smarted when they
pulled the slugs out of various places on my body, but I eventually made it
home and got to record the demos.

It's really that easy.

LMAO... Geesh! If it was that easy, anyone could have done it. :)
Even a stooge...

<hanging head in shame>

You're right Shemp. In my desperation to get the track out the door, I
really didn't take advantage of the 940's unique characteristics. But I have
to disagree a bit--I find that the unique weight distribution of the
MOTM-900 makes for a richer (some might say "phatter") ringing sound when
dropped from great heights. My best results have been from mounting one of
the older Radio Shack PZM mics right on the faceplate so that it can pick up
the "wind" sounds as it spirals (due to the aforementioned weight
distribution) to the ground. The headphones would still be used to pick up
the impact.

Now if I could only figure out how to get it to continue to spit out voltage
after impact, I'd be all set. I tried wrapping it in egg cartons, but those
really suck acoustically. I spent a lot of money on a long-enough extension
cord to use the module properly, and I'll be annoyed if I can't make that
investement pay off.

In a couple days I'll talk about using self-oscillating filters to make dogs
self-oscillate, then patching them into the 120. Lots of fun and sounds
great (not so much fun for my dogs however--I think they require lower
voltage or something).
