My previous "joke" about PAiA was in the context of speaking to them many
times over the past 15 years about more analog modules, only to watch their
line of analog stuff disappear entirely. With the same phone call in the late
80's or early 90's, I was informed that they were discontinuing the EKx line
of CEM based kits, BUT, they were introducing an enclosure (the FrackRack)
for this type of experimentation where there was none before!!!???

I have nothing against PAiA, or their employees! I've bought several of their
kits and got many of them to work. I admire the fact that the company has
been around for THIRTY YEARS (I think they started with a FLINT based limiter
or some such thing). Scott in particular has been very helpful to me in the
past, and I'm thankful for his help.

When I joined the DIY list 4/97 Paul was asking for input to realize his
"dream" of introducing a line of synth kits. Shortly after his first pings to
the list, SUDDENLY, PAiA started stirring about introducing a new line of
modules. In the meantime, MOTM (an entirely new line) has introduced several
new interesting modules. And with each ping to the DIY list in the early
days, another little rumble about PAiA's new line "just around the corner."

Me? I believe there could be enough room in this kit game for everyone (MOTM,
Blacet, PAiA, etc.) if each company does what they do best, not just goes out
to compete for the same customers with minor variations on the same four
modules -- i.e., niche marketing, or counter marketing.

In that respect, my wait for the MOTM ladder filter is nothin! Plus I know
it'll be worth the wait.

But Larry, Dave can't join us. We need him to keep doing the front panel mock
ups, as well as doing the occasional fix or mod.
