1) Does anybody own a Korg MS-20? 2) The reason I ask is that for years, it contained a "secret potted module" that nobody knew what was inside. Err....until today!!! It turns out that a simple, 1U wide MS-20 filter with 3 controls (Cutoff, Q, and MOD DEPTH) and 4 jacks (IN, OUT, 1V/OCT IN, VARIABLE IN) could be whipped up in no time. Cost would be $89, same as EG kit! (BTW: this is about as cheap as I can make a kit and at least break even). The circuit is easy to build (a single-sided pcb is all thats needed). I don't have a MS-20, but lots of folks love the "Korg Twang". Any interest??? Paul Schreiber

I WANT 2!!!!! Yes, I have a MS-20. Would this be both the low / high pass serial combo as in the MS-20 or just one of them? Steve Paul Schreiber wrote:

Sure Paul, In my limited experience, it seems that the filters seem to be the one single element that makes the biggest difference in sound in a synth with a fixed architecture (well other than modulation routings). So, it seems to reason that having different types of filters would broaden one's modular pallet. So, count me in. I think I will require one of every filter you make and two of the ones I get, use and really like. I like the sound of my MS-20. But, I like the filters better in my Micromoog. Larry

Sounds great! The more filters, the merrier! Dave Bradley Principal Software Engineer Engineering Animation, Inc. daveb@...

As everybody else has said, I'm in at least for one. The only reservation I have about this is (selfishly) that I'd love to see more exotic filters (ie,with VC Q, a state variable filter, and a variable slope filter -- am I just dreaming here?), so I hope this won't limit your future filter selection, but it does seem like it would be very popular. Suggestions for features: 1) Have the MOD DEPTH knob go positive in the clockwise direction, negative in the CCW direction, and zero at 12 O'clock -- I really like this feature!!!!! 2) Dave mentioned HP and LP on the MS-20 (?), maybe a switch between LP - BP - HP.
