motm on cd

2000-11-19 by baron swodeck

Hi guys, Barry again
Does anybody know of motm systems being used on any cd's out there? I am
interested in hearing them. I also was wondering how many of us use our
stuff in the hopes of releasing something compared to how many are doing it
as a hobby.
About the chaos thing: I was under the impression that it is simply
randomness within given parameters. So if that's true an arpegiater running
on random is chaotic. I'm probably wrong about this but oh well.
barry :)

This may be a bit cliche..... but how about a MOTM compilation CD next
year ? With contributions from this list. Perhaps 80% MOTM at the very least or
something.

www.hypnos.com

Look for the Dave Fulton CD "The Most Distant Point Known"

Also, the Robert Rich demos at www.synthtech.com/news are "practice pieces"
for his 100% MOTM CD coming out in April.

Hi Barry... You can put me in the Hobby column... I'm a big fan of electronic music and have always dreamed of owning a modular... The thing I like best about MOTM is not only do I get to own a modular but I get to build it too!!! Some time next year I plan to obtain a recording program for my PC and do some home recording. I'm doing it for fun and no have plans beyond sharing my music with friends, relatives, and annoying the neighbors!!! But then again who knows!!! I figure that if I can make the cat, wife and kids run and hide then I must be onto something!!!

AS soon as I get a decent number of modules put together I'd be more than
happy to do a track or two for a comp. I also have Soundforge so I could
also in theory master it, not as good as getting it done professionally, but
my first cd sounded pretty good using it.
What kind of demo files do you need? I could also do some of those when I
get things going. I figure about three or four months to get a small system
put together.

Put me down for a track too. I am playing live Dec. 2 in Columbus, OH, so
that may generate a couple of MOTM heavy tracks. I will be performing under
a new, solo moniker--.aqua.ranger. 3 other bands and 2 multimedia artists
will also be performing. I also have an MOTM track from February by
Tentochi that would be good also.

Cheers!

I have a few things coming out soon with the MOTM. Whether this lifts me
from the category of hobbyist is debatable...

I'm on one track from Dave Storrs' Waxing The Slide CD, on Louie Records.
Dave is a jazz drummer and composer, and the concept of Waxing is that he
composed MIDI and percussion tracks, and had one featured soloist come in
and improvise over the top of the tracks. Each of us were given one track,
and one take. On my track I used MOTM and a little bit of Dark Star. The
Louie website is www.peak.org/~louierec, but this record isn't on the site
yet (soon), though it is available from Dave (louierec@...).

I also have a dub/jazz CDR that I'm releasing on my own New and Improv
label, that will be out very soon, under the name Admiral Twinkle Devil.
And the new Minus CD will finally be out next February or so, there's a few
advance tracks at www.mp3.com/-minus-, and there's a bit of MOTM on that as
well.

I'd be glad to contribute to this project. I'd also be willing to take on
the compiling and mastering side of it as well, I've mastered about 20 CD's
in the last few years at my studio.

I tried putting my MOTM on a CD, but the CD just got all scratched up, and
the modules didn't all fit on one CD. Also, it didn't make the MOTM sound
any better, so I put it back in the rack. Luckily, it wasn't one of my
favorite CDs.

Oh wait, you meant... nevermind. ;)

That's what you get when you try to mix analog with digital.

Dave,

Your next CD might be called "Trenkel Down Theory" -- feel free to steal that
if you like!

The recording that I've been using MOTM on is a lengthy work-in-progress
involving collaborations from musicians around the globe, so it'll probably
be at least mid-2001 by the time it comes out. Unfortunately, the only
recordings out so far on which I play modular, feature my other modulars,
sorry ...
