Blacet Miniwave?????

What is the current status of the Blacet MiniWave? John? Anyone?

It seems like this is taking a while...

Thanks!

I recently asked John via email, I believed it would be good timing
ecspecially with a stooge MOTM panel order coming up soon, but he did not
respond. I been told things are pretty messed up at Wiard, so dont be
surprised if the whole thing gets shit canned.

The Wiard modular is basically dead. I heard there are about 6 systems'
worth of modules left. Supposedly it was too expensive to get PCBs run and
then have them sit waiting for buyers (among other reasons). I understand
other products might come to light from Grant et al, but the Wiard many of
us drooled over is almost extinct. If you want one and have the money, you'd
better call today (if it's not too late already).

The process of module development (even other people's designs) is a
long one....

Thanks for your patience.

That would be a shame. It certainly seems to be a unique module and I am
sorry to have missed getting the original one. I was into other stuff when
that first came down. But, I did ask Moe Bradley to send me his. So, maybe
all is not lost.

I'm gonna go stand out by my mail box and wait for it to arrive.

Wouldnt it be nice if Grant went in with Paul or John, and we could still have
access to some unique stuff. Ill admit, i could never afford the full range
stuff, and was put off by the lack of customer service my friend got after Grant
lost his partner, but it would still be great to have some of these modules.

There doesn't seem to be any 'et al' anymore, which is another big
contributor to Wiard's troubles. Grant lost his only two employees at
the same time - pretty hard to recover from with such a small
operation.

Thank YOU John for taking on this project. I know you will be rewarded with
purchases. You can count on mine -- ESPECIALLY, if you release a version at
a slightly lower cost that does not have the Frac Rack face and pots for
MOTM'ers that want to convert formats. I know Moe Bradley will want to run
panels for it.

I'll buy one too - I always planned to have two, but Wiard folded
unexpectedly. Are ya gonna make me redesign the panel<g>?

the word i got personally from grant was that darwin had a baby. not
sure about the other guy, but money was not mentioned.

John is still being very vague on this which makes me a little worried.

Give us a little more hint of what is going on John!

If this falls through, I am will to help buy the plans from Grant and fire
up more Stooge mayhem.

If that falls through, we could all center our forces on the Modcan's
Wavetable 19A module (http://www.modcan.com/modhtml/modules.html). They are
$250 each. We could maybe do a custom conversion and panel or work
something out with Modcan. Does anyone have one of these?

From the website:

   WAVETABLE 19A
	-tracks pulse from standard VCO
-provides 64 waveforms in 8 banks with 8 locations
-uses technology similar to PPG or Prophet VS for digital waveforms
-trigger inputs for stepping banks and locations
	allowing wave sequencing
-can be used in LFO range for modulation
	-hard sync input
	-Led numeric display

So no one gets the wrong idea, I would rather buy one from Paul. But on
several occasions, he said he wouldn't be doing one. And secondly, I would
rather buy the Blacet/Wiard model.

Cheers!
Shemp

Maybe we should give John a break until say April before we mention this
again -- or just go sit on the toilet and wait for the UPS man to bring it to
each of our doors.

JB

Thanks John for your efforts here (and your modules too!) -- as Paul has said
a few times, it's a great time for analog EM enthusiasts!

Re: [motm] Blacet Miniwave?????

The Miniwave from Blacet is definitely a go. We have all the info from
Grant as well as a working module. He has licensed this design to us and
has said that he will not be doing so for any other manufacturer (an
exclusive!).

We have to redesign the PCB and make a new front panel. Then there is
the documentation. This would all go very quickly if there were not
other products to build and other orders to fill. We have a bunch of EGs
to finish up for example.

I'm sorry to be vague about production dates, but we have missed a few
projections in the past few months, so I'm going to try not making
predictions just to keep from gaining a bad rep in this area!

I'm not going to go into all the pains of running a nano business except
to say that going a bit slowly is the only business plan that makes
sense in the long run as far as contining to offer products at
reasonable prices.

I will not be answering any more e-mail on this topic until the product
is officially announced.

Thank you all for your interest and support! Now back to your regularly
scheduled program.

YeEEEAAAHHHHHHHHHH HHHOOOOOOOOOO !!!!!

I am very happy about this and will buy one for sure. I have one of the
original 10 from Grant and it is just as cool and usefull in my MOTM as you
have all heard. The quantizer functions are the newest useful thing with my
small analog sequencer and even simply to add additional color to the
MOTM-300 VCO. Thanks John, you have excited many of us I'm sure. Now back to
the regularly scheduled envelope generator HA!

So how much more will I end paying for having bought the first one ?

Any chance of Grant just licensing a PCB run of the lot and just
lettig us have a go at it. I had a a whole Wiard kit set layout. what
a bummer.
