I have a pair of Quad ESL 57's with Quad II mono amps.  They have been 
in storage for a few years, in need of a rebuild.  I jumped into it 
last week, replacing the dust covers and rewiring the 6 electrostatic 
panels.  (see photo).  I sent the amps to an expert repairman.

Yesterday, I let the speakers charge up for about 12 hours then fired 
up the amps.  They sounded completely amazing last night for about 7 
minutes.  The left side started to fade into distortion followed by the 
right side a minute later.  (Oh shit!)

I wired up another pair of speakers.  Both amps are distorting so the 
work done on the ESL's isn't the problem.  (Big sigh of relief).

The amps will be back at the Spa for another rejuvenating massage 
tomorrow.
