I think it was on the David Kean produced
Mellotron "The Sounds/ The Workings" VHS tapes there's footage of
both Kean and Moraz playing some of the sounds on this frame. There are
several pipe organ riffs from Chris Squire's solo album that Moraz contributed
to as well as some of the odd synth noises from Moraz first couple solo
albums.

Hey hey.
Thanks for asking...I was sort of surpised noone
was interested...The stuff on the Moraz
tapes was a bunch of fast runs on a church organ, some big vocal arrangements
and chords. There were some rhythmic stuff as well more in a atmospheric
vein...Reverby random hits.
We also listened to the Black sabbath tapes and as
mentioned the roxy music ones...
Markus has all of the Mellotron sounds as well
Chamberlin sounds from first generation tapes. He did a full run through
checking all the mastertapes in 2006, exactly 50 years after they were first
recorded, choosing the best takes et.c as well as finding older generations
and better copies of the sounds. Very interesting hearing the Chamberlin 3
violins in comparison to the MK II ones.
He has also a bunch of unused rhythm and fills for
the MK II and loads of very very esoteric sounds. He has also sounds for a
sort of mini Mellotron that apprently never happened.
For my new tapes I got the ...
#1 Chamberlin Flute, Chamberlin bass clarinet,
Twist in C (from the MK II), Slow waltz (MK II),
#2 Chamberlin Gino Vanelli double bass and celloes,
Tubular Bells, Electric guitar chords, Bolero (MK II)
Not necessarily your average second frame
selections but I know I will be using them.
To quote Beck...Somethings gonna change...I can
feel it.

Mattias,
interesting stuff (wondering that nobody is asking, so I
will): can you describe what
exactly is on that Moraz live tapes for Yes?
Perhaps if you are not a big Yes fan, you don't
know where they used the
bits, anyway, I would like to find out for what parts Patrick
Moraz has
used the mellotron as a playback gear :-) I have this 1975 London concert
video ( I guess the only video with Moraz during Yes) but never recognized
any third hand
keyboard lines out of the blue, but maybe the camera didn't
recorded him in that moment.
Markus = Markus Resch? Does he own all
the original recordings made for Mellotrons?
Greetings,
Thomas

had loads of strings (most probably all from the same songs)...some
synth
stuff and then short vocal phrases. Not being a big Roxy Music fan I can't say
from
which songs...
