Re: [newmellotrongroup] Re: MOODY BLUES voices EEEEEK

I met Mark Volman of The Turtles after a lounge gig they were doing in Vegas in the summer of '94 - he was pleasant, but not terribly interested in talking to fans.

Country heartthrob, Kenny Chesney stepped into my office in 2004 to make a phone call - I glanced at him, he glanced at me, neither of us said hi, and I went back to work.

Steve Jones, the guitarist for the Sex Pistols bummed cigarettes off me all night at a party in Kansas City in '81. I met their drummer, Paul Cook, there too. Most of my musician encounters have been with folks in the Punk genre, i.e. Henry Rollins - so they're not really what I'd call famous.

My other famous encounters have mostly been with writers and artists in Fantasy and Science Fiction, so I won't bore you guys with them.

My ex wife, growing up around the Bucks County/NYC axis met lots more famous people than I did, but who really wants to go there?

Oh …I forgot one too.

And this one is in the music business…or was.

My brother was at an art gallery buying a self portrait by one former singer turned artist/painter.

He called me and put her on the cell phone….it was Grace Slick.

My wife Janet got on the phone and asked her:

“What’s your favorite stripe on the flag?”

(See the “Volunteers” album for the answer).

I forgot... and I intend to forget again in a few minutes. I have had a number of beers and various other beverages on a number of occasions in the past, with Dave Cousins.

On a more peasant note, I have also had a chance to work with Keith Emerson, Steve Hackett, The Enid (Robert John Godfrey), Eddie Jobson, our mate Mattias Olsson (and Anglagard), the amazing and incredibly nice Andy Latimer (Camel), Lars Fredrik Frøislie (Wobbler -White Willow), Woolly (a great guy...we all miss him) and countless others in my work with NEARfest and the BJH show at ROSfest.

Alas, my on,y brush with fame not counting the time Greg Lake told me to get away from him after seeking an autograph from the Works I tour.
