All stuff and nonsense.  Jean Michel Jarre toured the world with a MKII in 1997/98 and the only mishap was when the wagon hit a HUGE pothole in Siberia or some such aplace and a tape jumped out of the guide either side'o'the headblock.  The beast still works and has never been serviced since.  The horror stories are not as prevelant as the myth implies.
