The last time I recorded with a Mellotron (70's) it sounded fine. Back then they were borrowed or rented since (to address your jab :)) I don't own one. Now that may not allow me to have an opinion on this group but I have recorded groups with Mellotron and samples and I spent copious amounts of time listening to Genesis, King Crimson, etc. recorded and live.....and I did stay at a Holiday Inn last night! (US commercial for those abroad). Seriously , I have run them through guitar amps, reverb, and whatever to get the sound I wanted like the albums I listened to. Sorry if my ears aren't as Mellotron astute as some here but I wasn't trying to put down the tape machines in any way....I think you know that.....actually I was expecting that response from Frank! :) From: newmellotrongroup@yahoogroups.com [mailto:newmellotrongroup@yahoogroups.com] On Behalf Of john barrick Sent: Thursday, September 01, 2011 10:00 AM To: newmellotrongroup@yahoogroups.com Subject: Re: [newmellotrongroup] M4000 D How does yours sound, Gary? It will almost certainly out sell the tape machines but most on this list will hate it no matter what it sounds like.
