Gary... Always remember the two requirements to be in this group. Thin
skull & thick skin. You may mess with me to your hearts content. I can dish it
out and I can take it. Mel, on the other hand, is thick skulled and thin
skinned and he sometimes reads my email. He's also often drunk and somewhat
stupid. So if he comes after you, don't take it hard. All he can do is make
a lot of noise.

Why from me? I love the real ones, but I'd take a fake one too.

The last time I recorded with a Mellotron (70’s) it sounded fine. Back
then they were borrowed or rented since
(to address your jab J) I don’t own one. Now that may not allow me to
have an opinion on this group but
I have recorded groups with Mellotron and samples and I spent copious
amounts of time listening to Genesis,
King Crimson, etc. recorded and live…..and I did stay at a Holiday Inn
last night! (US commercial for those abroad).
Seriously , I have run them through guitar amps, reverb, and whatever to
get the sound I wanted like the albums
I listened to. Sorry if my ears aren’t as Mellotron astute as some here
but I wasn’t trying to put down the tape machines
in any way….I think you know that…..actually I was expecting that
response from Frank! J

In a live or studio mix you would never hear the difference especially
after the reverb and
other processing that is commonly used on Mellotron tracks. It will
almost certainly out
sell the tape machines but most on this list will hate it no matter what
it sounds like.
Fire away…. J
