RE: [newmellotrongroup] Do the Beach Boys sound this good live?

2011-11-02 by Ms. Janet Strauss

I was watching TV late one night recently and saw some program about the
behind the scenes preparations to have Brian Wilson and his band perform
Smile in London.

Given how bad I've heard him sound on some late night talks shows, and how
nervous he was ramping up to the big opening night.I was surprised how good
he sounded.

He looked like he was having fun doing it too.

Couldn't help but notice Paul McCartney and George Martin in the audience
giving him a standing ovation at the conclusion (Good Vibrations.Brian's
version)

No, they don't but Brian Wilson's band does.

It's a bit of a slavish cover of the song, though.

Talking of which, I now have 'The SMiLE Sessions' as of two days ago. I
think I've played it through about 8 times now. :-)
