Re: [newmellotrongroup] Celebrate!

2013-12-12 by Bruce Daily

Congrats to all the lads at Mellotronics! Thanks for the machines, the tapes, and the parts.

I heard it first on "Strawberry Fields" and "Tuesday Afternoon", but didn't know what it was.
The Moodies "In Search Of..." made me aware of it, but strangely I didn't like it.
Finally, I got to play one in 1975. My eyes glazed over, and I was hooked.

 Cheers!

Strawberry Fields was first, but I probably didn't realize it. ITCOTCK was the album that took me for a ride, as far as figuring out what a tron was.

There was this timewith my mom, I was probably 14 years old. We were in Allentown PA for some reason and I wanted to walk by Crest Music Center to see if it was open. It was not. I could see in the back of the store an M400 sitting there, and I just longed to play it. I still have that vivid memory. The M400 felt so exotic to me. I was so into British RnR and the tron felt like England to me.

First was probably 'Strawberry Fields', like an awful lot of people.
