11:59 - Sacrifice of Praise

2016-10-12 by Robert

Hi Andy,

So far, I have been able to find 5 tracks from this album on YouTube.

I fully agree with Chris. A lovely album. I wish it was currently available on CD.

Andy - Your Mellotron arrangements are beautiful. I hope you change your mind and decide to keep your current Mellotron.

Thanks Chris for bringing this album to our attention.

Cheers,

Robert

       Chris.We recorded it in a
very basic studio, which in those days had a very unstable
power supply, the arch enemy of all Mellotrons. To the point
where the producer wouldn't let me use it as much as I
would have liked. Of course the tron was up and down like a
yo-yo most of the time. I loved it of course, but it did add
an interesting dynamic to the control room, lol. Thanks for
 the kind words.

Yes, Ros Hardings had a lovely
 voice.
 It's a very
 unique recording Andy.
 My hats off to you.

Mine is the first vocal you will hear
track 1. Thankfully, things soon improve significantly once
Ros Hardings beautiful tones kick in! Yes,
still close friends with most of them, but, sadly, Ros died
about 20 years ago. Use of Mellotron on Christian Folk Rock
 music was rare in 1973!

       Hi Andy,
 Interesting story about the Gentle
 Giant stickers.
 I know they
had an M300, not sure about an M400, but they might have had
one as a replacement for the M300.I'm really
not sure how late they used the Mellotron.

 Years
ago I heard the 1159 album from a friend, and thought it was
some of the most beautiful female vocal music I'd ever
 heard.
 I wanted to buy
the album from him, but he wouldn't sell it, so I went
looking for it and couldn't find it. He
eventually burned a copy of it on CD and gave it to me as a
 birthday present.
 I
saw your name in the credits and figured it must be you,
 considering the Mellotron on there.
Are you still in touch with the
members of that band, or is it too long ago?

 Chris
 Hi Chris.

I'm amazed you've even heard of
 that!

 But no, it
isn't the same one. To my shame we sold that one a
couple of years after finishing the 1159 album.

I bought this one in a right old state back in the 90's,
and J & M worked their magic big time. It had a couple
of Gentle Giant \Live stickers on, so maybe it was
 theirs in a former life.

 Cheers.

Andy, is this the same Mellotron on the 11:59
 album, 'sacrifice of praise'?

 Hi all.

It is with an extremely heavy heart, and much sadness that
I'm going to have to sell my M400. The fact is that I am
gong to be moving into much smaller accommodation early next
year, and I simply won't have room for it. Those who
have known me over the years, know that this original EMI
has been totally rebuilt by John and Martin, and installed
into a brand new white case. It's also had new set of
tapes, Mk2 3 violins, Mk2 Flutes and tuned Mixed Brass B and
a brand new motor, so is very stable. Thanks to J & M,
it plays better than it ever did when new! It is a dream
 machine.

There has seldom been a time in my adult life when I've
been without a real tron, but as time takes its toll and
situations change, difficult decisions need to be addressed.
I wanted to offer it to my uk buddies here first before I go
down the eBay route. PM me if interested.

 Kind regards to all.
