In instrument repair, I've found you always get what you pay for.  
Vintagevibe is a good case in point. Pay for cheap and you get cheap.  
Sounds like you got the job done right.

My wife has to get her flute overhauled, something that has to be done  
every 2-3 years. Her flute technician charges $1400. Is it worth it?  
Yes! Every darned penny. (The flute is only worth only about $8000.)  
Over the years, I'll bet she's spent $20,000 on overhauls. It's just  
the cost of doing business.

A good instrument repairman is worth his weight in gold.

Except for Martinge. He's worth his weight in beer.
