Shame she didn't / doesn't record more Bach as after Gould and Tureck I think she is one of the finest interpreters of Bach on the piano. ________________________________

The curiosity was killing me and to date, I couldn't find any discussions on this topic. I always wondered what keyboard instrument Steven plays on tour, because it appears to have a wooden cabinet like a small vintage organ ? If you look at photo 79, it appears to be an M-Audio 61 key keyboard controller housed in a wooden cabinet. I wonder what keyboard instrument the cabinet was originally from ? Sorry for the typo - I meant to type "Waterloo Lily".

Subject: OT - RIP - Lol Coxhill
I'm sad to report that Lol passed away yesterday. He was most definitely one of my favorite saxophonists and he inspired me to become interested in listening to jazz and avant-garde music.I was first introduced to Lol's playing, when I picked up Caravan's "Waterloo Lilly" album back in the 70's.RIP, Lol...Robert

The Davoli didn't make it's appearance on a Caravan album until For Girls Who Grow Plump in the Night. Steve Miller never used one. As for the subject of the thread, I consider Lol to have been a dear friend despite only having met him a few times. I recorded some performances he did here in Toronto while on tour with The Matchbox Purveyors (a duo with Ian Hinchcliffe) and hung out with him over a few days in London a couple of years later. A delightful gentleman who will be sadly missed. BTW, this isn't exactly OT. Remember his "Superbly Played Mellotron Codas" on Ear of Beholder. Jim Bailey

Jim Bailey Jim, You're right, my mentioning of Lol Coxhill's passing is not necessarily OT not only because of the slight use of the Mellotron on "Ear of Beholder", but because he was a musician, and "I think", that all music posts are generally accepted on this list ? However my guess is, regardless of how eclectic he was, that Lol's style of playing is an acquired taste, and may not be appealing to many of the members on this list ? So that may be the reason that I prefaced the heading of his passing as "OT". He will be missed, that's for sure...
