Crap! Wish I had 2 grand!  That's the second Tron in the Chicago area.  The other being owned by a fellow list member here in Downers Grove.

OT - RIP - Johnny Smith

Legendary jazz guitarist Johnny Smith passed away on June 11th. He was probably my favorite jazz guitarist of all time, and I like them all. If you like jazz guitar, but haven't ever heard of him, I recommend that you check him out. Simply wonderful !

And take a look at that beautiful archtop guitar (in the NY Times Obituary picture); I believe that guitar was custom made for him by Gibson.

I thought his name sounded familiar, but I've never heard him play. What a difference between the way he played his own song, "Walk, Don't Run", and The Ventures' versions (although I do like the '64 version a lot). That guitar should be renamed the Le13Grand.

Yes, sadly another Jazz giant is gone. The Jazz guitarists never seem to make the "top" guitar player lists. Smith was one that should.
