I need someone to take over the ownership of this group

I need someone to take over the ownership of this group

I need someone to take over the ownership of this group.

It's easy. You just need to approve new member applications. We get one or two new member requests each month.

I will transfer ownership to the first volunteer that can answer a skill testing question.

If nobody steps forward, I will delete this group.

Maybe we should do a vote. People put their names in by say Saturday night 11:59pm EDT. Once complied, voting would start next day and would be open for a week. Whoever gets the most votes gets to be caretaker.

I would be sorry to see the group go, so I would take it over if no one else would.

I have received three offers. Thank you all.

The first offer came from the owner/moderator of the Korg PolySix Yahoo group. Ben has a Mellotron. He has been a member of our group for years but has not posted often.

I was going to do a vote as Bill Rudloff suggested but .... I didn't.

Ben Stuyts is the new group owner. Welcome Ben!

Thank you Clay!

Perhaps a little introduction:

I’ve been a member of this group since 2009 but have posted only once or twice. As Clay mentioned, I’m also the moderator for the Korg PolySix group. My task here will be mainly allowing new members in, and keeping spam and other nuisances away.

I’m from the Netherlands and I own an M400 which was originally from the Dutch prog-rock band Earth&Fire. I bought it in non-working condition around 15 (?) years ago and fortunately it was easy to fix. Since then I’ve used it mostly for my own musical doodles, but it has also been used by others. For example in a concert of Medeski Martin & Wood, and also by the Foo Fighters in a session for Dutch TV (see it in use at http://youtu.be/B_zC24Liq3A?t=24m46s). At that time mine was apparently the only working Mellotron in the Netherlands, and the Foo Fighters required one or they wouldn’t come. It was a really fun session to attend, and awesome to see them in action!

Kind regards,
Ben

Re: I need someone to take over the ownership of this group

2014-09-05 by Steven Ruckman

Welcome Ben!! i've been a member here since the groups' inception but haven't been here for a while or posted much. And, while I don't own a Mellotron, I am a Mellotron junkie (gotta love that sound) and did have the great pleasure of attending the unveiling of the 2nd Pindertron and the Morazotron Mark V at Jerry Korb's Mellotron Ranch in 2006 (there were SEVEN Trons in the house that day including an M300 in his living room...WOW!!).

I, too remember the circumstances surrounding the start of this group and want to give a BIG THANX to Clay for starting it and running it all this time.

And Clay...I still LOVE your recording of 'La Cathedrale Engloutie' and listen to it regularly!!

THANX AGAIN!!!

Steve

Re: [newmellotrongroup] - Facebook

HI guys! Gotta agree. I'm weary of friends who say "I've been trying to reach you! I've Facebooked you a bunch of times!" I just say, "That's why you haven't reached me."

I do have a F/B account - actually 2, one for a business venture, but I spend SO little time on 'em, 'cause it's so easy to spend a LOT of time on 'em!

But I like the Mellotron Group as an email bulletin board... it works well.

And not so incidentally, yes - THANK YOU, Clay, for all your great work, and undoubtedly patience!
