The Mellotron Group

Anyone have any information on the Calliope sound on In The Court Of 
The Crimson King?  I am assuming it was a real Calliope, as keyboard 
technology hadn't come very far at that time.

In searching, I read that the Calliope sound was used at the beginning 
of 21st Century SM ... holding down as many keys as possible created 
the wind-like noise.
